Obstetric Emergency Department (OB-ED)

Union Hospital offers a 24-hour OB Emergency Department (OBED). Our 9-bed OBED is staffed with Board Certified OB/GYNs 365 days a year and provides a dedicated space to provide care for pregnancy-related emergencies and to diagnose labor.

Conditions commonly treated in the OBED include:

  • diagnose labor
  • abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • complications associated with high-risk pregnancy
  • decreased fetal movement
  • increased blood pressure
  • preterm labor
  • ruptured membranes

The OBED’s location ensures quick access to surgical care for the most serious pregnancy-related emergencies – and 24/7 availability of anesthesiologists, OB hospitalists, and neonatologists at Union Hospital means that the most serious of pregnancy complications can be addressed quickly.
