Hospital Expansion Renovations

Union Hospital made history with the single largest construction project in Terre Haute, its new $185 million, four-story, expansion and renovation project. Completion of the new Union Hospital East occurred in November 2009 and it opened in January 2010.

Our vision is for Union Hospital to be among the best hospitals in our class in the country, not just in Indiana or in this area... to say we are the best and be able to demonstrate it. With the completion of the new construction, Union Hospital has 380 private rooms for inpatient and outpatient use. We enhanced and expanded our facility to bring an exceptional level of healthcare to meet the needs of the future.

The following renovation projects have been completed:

  • The Cath Lab has been renovated to provide easier access, new private consultation rooms and additional state-of-the-art equipment. This project was completed the end of January 2013.
  • The Mother-Bably Unit moved to the third floor of Union West in April 2013 to feature large private rooms.
  • A new parking lot is available for employees, volunteers, patients and visitors south of 6th Avenue on 6 1/2 Street, south of the new Union Associated Physician building. The UAP building opened in April of 2013.
