New Relationship to Improve Local Accessibility to Highly-Skilled Emergency Room Physicians

Union Hospital, the Wabash Valley’s largest hospital and home to west-central Indiana’s highest-volume emergency department (ED), today announced a collaboration with Indiana University Health to improve local accessibility to highly-skilled emergency room physicians. The collaboration involves physician staffing of Union Hospital’s emergency department by IU Health – which begins on February 14, 2017.

Union Hospital – like many other hospitals across Indiana and the US – has utilized an emergency room physician management company for a number of years. Unlike in prior years, however, IU Health is the new partner of choice.

According to Steve Holman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Health and Union Hospital, “Union Hospital’s mission is to provide compassionate care of the highest quality to our community.  This collaboration with IU Health will further our mission by ensuring that patients in our emergency departments receive the best care possible.” Holman adds, “Our emergency department has worked very collaboratively with IU Health for the care of trauma patients for years, this enhancement of that emergency department relationship ensures an even stronger continuity of care between the two organizations for our patients.”
